Journey of a Pilgrim

3rd May 2023
15,000 Kilometres, 2 Connecting flights, 3 Delays and 26 hours later I finally found myself in this city. It was 9:30pm when I finally arrived 13 hours behind schedule.

I m still feeling the jet lag from the time differential I try to keep myself fully hydrated at the expense of multiple toilet runs. It was already dark when I finally stepped out of the airport. I can see the city is clean and neat with a sense of tranquility in the air as the Uber took a short drive to my hotel.
Goodnight Omaha, it will be an exciting few days ahead.
4th & 5th May 2023
Omaha greeted me with a beautiful spring morning. It was a refreshing feel to an America that I was used to.

I even manage to take the public transport to the University of Nebraska for the Value investor conference I had signed up for.

The Value Investor Conference was hosted by Robert P.Miles at the University of Nebraska. Guest speakers includes Robert Cialdini (Author of the bestselling book Influence), Chuck Akre, Tom Russo and more.
It was an eye opener for me as never had I been in the presence of so many liked minded value investor. While each individuals investment philosophy may differs, the eventual eye for value remains at its core.

I manage to acquire a shareholder pass through the goodwill of a fellow attendee who is so very kind to gift one of his passes to me.

Thanks to a traveling friend, I also managed to hitch into one of the private museum of a local car collector.

But the best discovery would have been Albert’s original signature found on its wall. (Any fans of Oppenheimer?)

The Big Day (6th May 2023)
I have to confess the adrenaline got the better of me as I only manage 4 hours of sleep. Together with a group of travelling friends we started the queue at 4am. Managed some sharing with people in the queue and time really flew while we waited.

When the gates finally opened, I am rather surprise on how orderly the crowd behaved with little pushing and shoving. We manage to clear security with ease without taking any bags along. Eventually we to get a decent view of the stage.

Standing ovation as Warren & Charlie takes the stage.
The rest was history as the world watches the mother of all Annual General Meeting unfolded. Questions comes in thick and fast as the Sage of Omaha answer each one with a vigour of a young man.
Having slept very little, I couldn’t match stamina of both Warren & Charlie and had to retreat back to the comfort of my room while I continue with the event on Youtube.
Manage to have a nice dinner with yet another group of new found friends as I prepare to take another gruelling journey home.
