Berkshire AGM
The famous Berkshire Hathaway Annual General Meeting takes place on the first weekend of May in Omaha, Nebraska. Also known as the Woodstock for Capitalists, the event attracts shareholders, students, value investors and many more from all over the world.
Many of the attendees are long time shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway who make the trip an annual pilgrimage of sort. Others are there to see Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger live for the first time answering questions from business to life in general.
The Berkshire AGM has a carnival atmosphere to it as business subsidiaries of the group hawk their wares in the large exhibition centre beside. Brands like Sees Candies, Diary Queens, Brooks and more offer special shareholders discounts making it an annual retail bonanza.
Besides discounts there are many value investing events which takes place before and after the AGM. At these events one can meet like minded investors to share their investment philosophy, trade stock ideas and learn from much each other.
If you are into value investing, the annual Berkshire Hathaway AGM is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the time tested method pioneered by Benjamin Graham almost a century ago. Berkshire Hathaway stands as a epitome of buying a business less than that of its intrinsic value.
